Vieux-Montreal is the oldest district of Canada's second largest city, its origins can be traced back to the 17th century.
This popular attraction draws locals as well as tourists with its lovingly restored colonial buildings. The Marché Bonsecours, a historical market hall, now houses a cultural centre. The Old Port extends over two kilometres along the St Lawrence River and invites you to take a boat trip or a walk. You can park the hire car at one of the signposted parking lots at the port.
The Notre Dame Basilica was the largest church in North America when it was completed in the 19th century, and even today its two towers accentuate the cityscape of Montreal. Centre-Ville, the modern city centre with numerous culinary institutes and shopping centres, is easily reached by car. Montreal's Underground City is a unique subterranean world, consisting of a well-developed network of pedestrian passages, shops and public facilities. It is the longest tunnel network in the world, with a length of more than 30 kilometres.
