Discover Mallorca by car
Mallorca is probably the most popular holiday island of holidaymakers from northern Europe. The largest island of the Balearic Islands, followed by Menorca and Ibiza, spoils its guests every year with over 2400 hours of sunshine. It also offers turquoise blue sea with beautiful sandy beaches and secluded bathing bays.
The total of more than 180 beaches that you can reach comfortably in a hire car from TUI Cars is, however, just one of many reasons to choose this holiday destination. Because not only sunbathers are in their element here. Mallorca also offers a wide variety of natural landscapes and cultural diversity. Our recommendation: hire a cheap car from TUI Cars and explore the island on your own. As a special service on Mallorca we also offer our customers the option of having the car delivered to them at their hotel. Please note that additional charges apply for this service.
There is hardly anything more enjoyable than exploring the island of Mallorca in a hire car and strolling around quaint villages with that typical island flair. On the other hand, the capital Palma entices travellers who love shopping. Let yourself be overwhelmed by the wonderful sightseeing and the beauty of the island. Your car rental office in Mallorca will be happy to provide maps and excursion tips for you.
Things to consider when hiring a car
When you hire a car on Mallorca, you should check the following:
When hiring a car on Mallorca, always check the insurance cover. Fully comprehensive insurance without any excess is always the best choice. In case of an accident, you are on the safe side. As a rule, all costs incurred are refunded. In order to avoid having to pay attention to every kilometre driven, you are better off with unlimited kilometres as well as a customer-friendly fuel policy (full/full). This is easy on the purse and saves trouble when returning the car.
What else should be considered? Car hire is popular on Mallorca, so hire cars often have a lot of mileage on the clock and are therefore prone to defects due to wear and tear. Please take note of the age and condition of your hire car. The cancellation of your hire car on Mallorca should be free of charge up to 24 hours before the rental period starts. This allows you to flexibly plan your holiday on this beautiful Balearic Island.
All these points are, of course, already included at TUI Cars. Book your hire car hire through TUI Cars on Majorca with that extra secure feeling.
Minimum age for car hire
Enterprise has hire cars available at Mallorca Airport. The minimum age is 21, which also incurs a surcharge of approx. EUR 9.50 per day, maximum of EUR 95 per booking, payable locally. No additional surcharge for drivers aged 25 years or over.
Hertz offers hire cars at both the airport and the respective town offices. Hotel delivery is also possible. The minimum age for hiring a car is 21; there is no young driver surcharge.
Europcar offers car rental services at both the airport and their town offices. Hotel delivery is possible. The minimum age for hiring a car is 19 years, and the young driver surcharge is approximately EUR 8.50 per day, maximum EUR 80 per booking. No surcharge is due after the age of 25.
Basically: On Mallorca it is not possible to hire a car under 19 years of age at the three companies referred to above, i.e. Enterprise, Hertz and Europcar. A surcharge usually applies to young drivers (see above) and is usually payable locally.

Mallorca, what should be on the bucket list?
The beautiful Balearic Island of Majorca offers many sights. You can start with the capital Palma de Mallorca. For example, you can explore the Cathedral of Palma by car or visit the historic quarter. What do you have to see to bring the holiday to a fitting conclusion? Of course, the sun and beach are absolutely essential. The unspoilt beach at Sa'nau is a real insider tip. It is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Cala sa Nau can be reached in a hire car by taking the Ma-4023, from the north as well as from the south. Continue to Felantix Market, where wine in large barrels and all sorts of other delicacies await visitors. Mallorca, what else do you have to see? The restaurant Mirador de la Victoria offers a great view of the sunset over the Bay of Pollença and is situated in a beautiful pine forest. And last but not least, after an exciting and adventurous day of discovery, the beach bar at Cala Sa Nau is a fitting setting for winding down over an exotic cocktail.
Where Mallorca is at its most beautiful - this is where holidays begin
The rugged, elongated peninsula of Formentor is without doubt Mallorca at its most beautiful. Visitors from the north of the island should drive the 18-km-long picture-postcard road to Formentor in the early morning or late afternoon hours to avoid the main traffic. In the high season the narrow access road can be lined with hire cars. At the top, parking can be a real challenge. Discover the elevated lookout Es Colomer or climb to the Talaia d'Albercutx watchtower. Discover Mallorca and the surrounding area in a hire car. The Caves of Drach offer a quite different experience. Las Cuevas del Drach were discovered and investigated in 1896 by Edouard Alfred Martel. Visit the breath-taking cave system by boat and experience the largest underground lake in the world in a wonderfully kitschy tourist show. Where Mallorca is at its best, you should be there. The last tip is also one of the most interesting for all Mallorca holidaymakers. Platja es Trenc is one of the last paradises left on Mallorca. West of Colonia de Sant Jordi lies a 5-km-long, beautiful sandy beach. The dune landscape and the salt marshes behind are a protected area. This is probably Mallorca at its most beautiful ...
Palma de Mallorca by car
Every visitor should include a sight-seeing trip to the vibrant capital of the island in their itinerary. From Cala Millor you can drive to the beautiful city in about 50 minutes. You also need about the same time from Can Picafort in the north of the island.
The interesting mixture of traditional and modern architecture, cultural hotspots and culinary insider tips as well as the good shopping opportunities make Palma de Mallorca a go-to destination – especially, if you have the flexibility of exploring the island in a hire car. In addition to strolling through the historic quarter with its palaces and art nouveau houses, a stop off at the majestic Cathedral of La Seu is an absolute must when visiting Palma. Our advice is check out the Cathedral of Light in the morning, because then you catch the sun flooding through the spectacular stained glass rose window. There’s a handy car park for safely leaving your hire car.
Mallorca and shopping: A walk around the Bay of Palma is a different experience from strolling around the old town. At the end of Contramuelle Mollet Street, lined on the one side by the paraphernalia of the fishing harbour and on the other by the royal yacht club, is the start of the pedestrian promenade parallel to the Passeig Maritim that takes you around the long front of the Bay. Boats from all over the world make their way directly to and tie up at the waterfront behind the pier for big liners and excursion boats. Rent an economic hire car in Mallorca and discover the capital of the island of Mallorca in your own time at your pace.
Hiking in the TUI forest
How about leaving the hire car for a moment and joining a guided Nordic Walking tour including a typical Mallorcan picnic in the nature reserve of Llevant in the north-east of the island near Artá? This is where the TUI Forest is being established. In this joint project between TUI Deutschland and the Ministry of the Environment of the Balearic Islands, an area of 48 hectares is being planted with olive trees and pine trees. Reforestation benefits Mallorquins and guests of the island alike. The tour takes about three hours. For you this is a good opportunity of learning all about the flora and fauna of the island from expert guides. And anyone who has not yet adopted a tree can do so on the spot. Go on an excursion in your economic hire car to a typical Mallorcan farm. For instance, in your cabriolet head for Els Calderers, a magnificent manor house and museum west of Manacor. This fine 18th century country house features salons, dressing rooms, storage rooms, wine cellars and much more. On the estate grounds there is a petting park where children can pet horses, sheep and dogs. You can leave your hire car in the shade of knotty trees that line the parking area.
The Sierra Tramuntana, the majestic mountain range in the north-west of Mallorca, rises over 1,000 metres above the sea and conceals a fascinating mountain world. Take advantage of your economic hire car from TUI Cars picked up on Mallorca to enjoy one of the most beautiful panorama trips that Europe has to offer. Take the time to drive along the well-maintained road along the breath-taking cliffs. Simply marvel at the spectacular view of the open sea and the mountains. On the journey through the hinterland of Mallorca you can discover intact nature, original vegetation and local culture in idyllic mountain villages. Lush citrus orchards and olive groves as well as places of interest with narrow streets and quaint squares line your way. Stop off at the small town of Sóller, the artists' village Deia and the picture book town Fornalutx. A special highlight in the mountains is the magnificent Valldemossa with its Carthusian monastery, founded in the late Middle Ages. Just the journey in your hire car over the winding roads is an unforgettable experience
