Important car hire rules - Novo Sancti Petri, Spain
Maximum speed: 50 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h on country roads, 100 km/h on highways and 120 km/h on motorways.
Unless otherwise indicated, vehicles on a roundabout have the right of way. Please pay attention to the signs.
Child seats are mandatory. Using a mobile phone in the car is only allowed with a hands-free system. A high-visibiltiy warning waistcoat must be worn if you breakdown on the side of the road.
In general stopping and parking is prohibited on unbroken yellow lines. Parking is allowed at blue markings, for a charge.
Day 1: Cadiz
Pick up your car in Chiclana de la Frontera and head for the beautiful town of Cadiz. Reckon on a 30-minute-drive from Chiclana and 40 minutes from Novo Sancti Petri to reach the city centre. Both the CA-35 and the CA-33 serve as access roads to the small peninsula with the imposing cathedral. Go shopping in the old town or relax on the town’s beach.
Dayg 2: Costa de La Luz
Pure seaside holiday. Pick up your hire car in Novo Sancti Petri and go on trip of discovery along the wonderful Costa de la Luz. The approximately 200-km-long coastline draws surfers from far and wide. Hit the road in your hire car and head for El Palmar, a surfer paradise. The trip back to the car hire station in Novo Sancti Petri takes about 30 minutes.
Day 3: Gibraltar
The peninsula of Gibraltar lies about 1.5 hours away from Novo Sancti Petri. To get there take the N-340 southbound to Algeciras. Gibraltar is famous for its notorious Barbary Macaques and the Upper Rock Nature Reserve with its limestone cliffs. Even if the peninsula is a British Overseas Territory, Gibraltarians have been driving on the right since 1929.
